Ku-band Shared-Aperture Air-Dielectric Thin-Film Phased Array Antenna
The TX/RX shared aperture antenna is developed in-house on Stardl’s satellite communication phased array development platform. It works in Ku band. The antenna assembly includes radome, antenna membrane, air supports, RF printed circuit board, and back cavity. With real-time FPGA computing, it quickly configures the amplitude and phase of each antenna element to form the required beam pointing in real time.
- TX/RX shared aperture – reduces antenna size.
- Air dielectric membrane antenna technology – higher efficiency.

Product Overview
This Ku-band shared-aperture air-dielectric thin-film phased array antenna is developed by Stardl based on an advanced phased array platform with FPGA-based real-time beamforming control. The system integrates radome, thin-film antenna elements, air-support structure, RF PCB, and back cavity into a highly compact architecture.
Each antenna element’s amplitude and phase are dynamically controlled to enable real-time beam steering and stable satellite tracking performance, making it suitable for lightweight mobile SATCOM terminals.
The shared transmit/receive aperture architecture significantly reduces system size while maintaining high RF efficiency and integration capability.
